VB Roundup: Drummond falls to Ennis; Granite beaten by Twin Bridges
ENNIS – Drummond may have fallen to the defending state champs. Many teams will this season. But despite losing the Mustangs in three straight, the Lady Trojans never gave up the fight. The final scores were 25-9, 25-11, 25-16.
“We played a very good state champion team tonight,” said Drummond Head Coach Shona Bradshaw, “and I am super proud of the girls for not giving up.”
The Lady Trojans had six service aces on the night, with Rylee Hilmo collecting half of them. She also had three kills which shared the lead for Drummond in that category with Hailey Swarengen. Hannah Bradshaw and Sydney Phillips had two each.
Swarengen led the Lady Trojans with two digs.
Drummond will get some time off to tune up for their next match Friday, September 7, against Harrison/Willow Creek at home.
Twin Bridges def. Granite, 25-16, 25-15, 25-17
TWIN BRIDGES – The Lady Prospectors took one on the chin in Twin Bridges to fall to 0-1 on the year.
“There were glimmers of some really great things,” said Granite Head Coach Jennifer Graham. “Each set we got to a position where we were tied and need to work on pushing ourselves over the mental hump.
“We are going to keep pushing to improve those things we do well and really work to improve those things we don't do so great.”
Granite stays on the road Saturday to play at Harrison/Willow Creek.
