Students get a lesson in home fire safety
DRUMMOND - Kids from the Drummond Preschool and Drummond Elementary got to visit the Valley Fire District fire hall Thursday.
VFD Chief Sean O'Connor and fireman Kyle Greany gave the kids and their teachers a talk about fire safety on their homes and at school, showing the kids some of the tools of the trade and encouraging them to make sure their parents keep them safe at home. O'Connor gave the kids permission to yell at their parents to make sure the batteries in their home fire alarms were fresh and to have up to date fire extinguishers in their home.
Later the students were taken on a tour of the fire engines and given several fun things to teach them about being fire safe. Each student went home with a brand new home fire alarm.
