Granite County bubbling over with activity starting Thursday
PHILIPSBURG - Granite County will be humming with activity starting Thursday and heading into the weekend.
Philipsburg Brewing Company Octoberfest!
The action starts Thursday with three events, the first two at the Philipsburg Brewing Company. The local brewery will be hosting its annual Octoberfest Celebration Thursday through Saturday. The weekend also marks Philipsburg Brewing Company’s sixth anniversary and will include a Stein Holding Contest, music, food and a lot more.
According to the brewery’s Facebook event listing, the fun begins at 10 a.m. Thursday and runs through 8 p.m. Saturday.

Love For Liz
Also at the brewery Thursday will be the Love for Liz Fundraiser. Liz Hill is a resident of the Flint Creek Valley that has been diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. She is a wife and mother as well as a school counselor and 4H Leader.
Money raised from the event will held Hill’s family fight this invasive form of cancer.
The Love for Liz event runs from 5-8 p.m. Thursday and will be split between the brewery and the old Philipsburg Fire Hall.

Candidates Forum
The Granite County Democrats and Republicans have joined forces to offer a Candidates Forum Thursday evening. The event, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at the Granite County Museum, will give voters and opportunity to hear and meet the candidates up for election this November 6. Confirmed attendees will be those on the ballot for the Montana House of Representatives District 77 seat as well as those running for the District 3 seat on the Granite County Commission.
The event will also be broadcast live on the Flint Creek Courier’s Facebook page.

Mission Bulldogs at Flint Creek Titans Football
It will be an Class C 8-Man Football tilt at George Mungas Field Friday night as the Mission Bulldogs come to Philipsburg to take on our Flint Creek Titans. It is Senior Night and game time is set for 7 p.m.
The Bulldogs come in at 4-3 on the year.
The Titans are a perfect 7-0 and are on the verge of joining the ranks of the win streak elite. If Flint Creek beats Mission Friday night they will have won 20 games in a row, tying them with Hysham (2007-2008) for 20th on the Montana High School Association (MHSA) all-time list. Charlo has the most consecutive wins with 53 from 1967-1973, with the Jim Oberweiser coached Drummond Trojans No. 2 with 45 during their trio of championships from 2003-2006.
Girls Volleyball
The Granite Lady Prospectors and Drummond Lady Prospectors will be playing volleyball this weekend as well. The Lady Trojans will host Lima Thursday starting with JV action at 5:30 p.m. and varsity following around 7. They will then have their Senior Night Saturday when they play host to the Falcons of Twin Bridges. Games are set to begin that night at 4 p.m.
The Lady Prospectors will host the Wildcats of Harrison-Willow Creek Saturday night with varsity games beginning at 5:30 p.m. There are no junior varsity games that night.
Drummond Community Memorial Wall Ground Breaking & Carnival
This project, which began some 15 years ago, is now at the doorstep of becoming reality after hours of hard work by the Chamber. It will be a chance to gather as a community and celebrate the rich heritage of the Lower Valley.
We will be serving Hot dogs and chili, hot chocolate, coffee, pop, chips etc. There is a nominal charge for food and games, and Bingo for Adults is also scheduled. Admission to the event is free.
There are still spaces for bricks mainly on the veteran's side and we always find room for more. Additional information is coming.
