Granite sweeps Harrison in weekend play
PHILIPSBURG – The Lady Prospectors made righted their ship Saturday night with a straight set win over Harrison-Willow Creek, 25-5, 25-17, 25-17. The win left Granite 1-1 on the week as they head into the final week of play before the District Tournament at Manhattan Christian starting October 25.
Haddie Tallon led the charge at the net for Granite with seven of the team’s 26 kills. She also tied with teammate Audrey Radtke at 10 digs each. Radtke and Reece Pitcher had two blocks each, with Emma Grange leading in assists (15) and Asha Comings in aces (5).
Darby defeats Granite (Tuesday)
DARBY – The Granite Girls Volleyball Team started slow but managed to win one of four at Darby Tuesday, 25-20, 26-24, 16-25, 25-23.
“It was good to go to Darby,” said Lady Prospector Head Coach Jennifer Graham. “We started kind of slow and made a lot of errors which is something we really need to work on, limiting those pesky errors. The girls are playing hard.
“We are focusing on the last three conference games we have and pushing into districts.”
Grange and Tallon led the locals in kills with seven each, while Grange also chipped in five aces and 15 assists. Sierra Metesh led in digs with 17 and Amelia Hill was the top blocker with three.
Granite hosts Drummond Tuesday in its Senior Night matchup. That night the Lady Prospectors are also hosting a Pink Night in honor of teacher and Philipsburg resident Liz Hill who is battling metastatic breast cancer.
Wednesday Granite closes out play with a match against Lima.
