Trojans sweep Lima, head toward postseason
LIMA – The Lady Trojans righted their ship and will head into the postseason on an up note after blowing out the Bears in Lima Saturday night, 58-18.
“We had a great game tonight and we are ready and excited for tournaments,” said Drummond Head Coach Nate Bignell.
The Lady Trojans sported nine players in the scoring column, led by sophomores Sydney Phillips with 16 and Deanna Parke with 11.
The win places Drummond as the No. 3 seed in the District 12C Bracket behind Ennis at No. 1 and Granite at No. 2. Rounding out the field are Twin Bridges (4), Sheridan (5), Harrison-Willow Creek (6) and Lima (7). In all likelihood the Lady Trojans and Lady Bears will square off in the first round of the postseason as Ennis takes a first-round bye.

The Trojans had control of Lima from the opening tip, earning a 79-46 win that secures them the No. 2 seed heading into the District 12C Tournament next week.
“It wasn’t our best effort tonight but there were some good things also,” said Drummond Head Coach Levi Parsons. “We moved the ball good and were able to get good looks at the basket. We shot 58% from the field which is our best percentage all year. We rebounded well and were able to get allot of minutes for our younger kids.”
When all was said and done, the Trojans sported a very balanced scoring attack with four players in double figures. Luke Holland had 21 to lead the charge, followed by Braden Huberg with 15 and Riley Allen and Jonah Parke with 13 each.
Twin Bridges is undefeated and in the No. 1 spot for the tournament, but will forego the bye and play Sheridan in the first round. That means Drummond will get the bye in the opener as the No. 2 team. The rest of the field finds Granite at No. 3, Ennis at No. 4, Harrison-Willow Creek No. 5, Lima No. 6 and Sheridan is No. 7.
