BOYS: Trojans forced into challenge game, Prospectors take fourth
DILLON – As they have all year, the Twin Bridges Falcons started fast and found a way to secure another win. This time they did it over the Drummond Trojans in the finals of the District 12C tournament in Dillon.
The loss by the Trojans placed them second in the event, with Ennis beat Granite for third place. That allowed the Mustangs to force a game Monday (6 p.m. at the Maroon Activities Center in Butte) for the right to play as the second seed from the district in Butte next week. The two teams split their head-to-head series this year, each winning at home.
“Tough loss tonight,” said Levi Parson, Drummond Head Coach. “Boys played well. Just couldn't put the ball in the hole. We barely shot 20% from the field. We rebounded great and defensively I thought we did a great job. To hold a team with that kind of talent says a lot about their efforts.”
The Falcons out-paced the Trojans 34-18 at halftime, but Drummond didn’t fade from the challenge. They outscored Twin Bridges in the third and fourth quarters, but not by enough to overcome the Falcons’ initial surge.
Jonah Parke led all scorers in the game with 15, with Luke Holland and Riley Allen close behind with nine and eight points, respectively.
