Community helps fill sand bags, clear culvert in Drummond
DRUMMOND – Community members came together Saturday to help fill sandbags for use as waters rise with Spring’s warming temperatures.
Mayor Gail Leeper indicated that the bags are there for public use. Some of the bags have already been deployed by residents in defense of their properties.
Men from the Church of Latter Day Saints, Drummond school students and teachers, and a host of others joined forces to fill the bags that are located on the corner of Main and Edwards, just across from the post office. Sand bags can also be found in other areas of Granite County, including:
State Road Shop Mt Hwy 1 South of Drummond
Hall County Road Shop Mt Hwy 1 at Hall
Rock Creek at the Sand Pile
Philipsburg at the storage building behind the School
Philipsburg Road Shop
Hall County Road Shop
Leeper also noted that the culvert that runs under the intersection of Edwards Street and North Main streets is now open and allowing water to flow freely from the run off in Edward’s Gulch.
