Gardeners Beware! Freezing temps headed back into local forecast
GRANITE COUNTY – Those hoping to finally get started on their spring planting may have to wait a few more weeks before stuffing their green thumb into Montana’s ground.
The National Weather Service is predicting a spring cold snap this weekend and into next week for Granite County and all of Western Montana.
Friday will see temperatures in the high 40s to low 50s during the day with possible rain and snow showers in the afternoon and evening that should bring trace snow accumulations. Lows will be in the low 30s.
Saturday the cool down begins in earnest, with the highs dropping in the mid 40s and the lows dipping into the 20s.
Sunday the weather stays cold and moisture enters the equation. As much as an inch and a half of snow is expected to fall in various areas.
When the week begins, temperatures are expected to stay in the mid 40s during the day and mid to high 20s at night. This could mean big trouble for those that may have already started their gardening outside of a greenhouse.
