Granite County girls sweep district track meet, DHS Boys take third
BOZEMAN – It was a day of personal bests and big finishes at the District 12C Track & Field Meet Saturday at Bozeman High School.
The Lady Trojans won the girls meet with 118 points, beating out county rival Granite in second with 98.
Rylee Hilmo and Macy Williams led a solid team effort for Drummond, each claiming a pair of first-place finishes. Hilmo won the 100m Hurdles and was a member of the winning 4x100x Relay with teammates Destinie Egbert, Sara Kielley and Abigail Egbert. She also claimed second in the 100m dash and third in the 300m hurdles.
Williams was the top finisher in the 800m with a personal best time of 2:38.35 and was part of the first place 4x400m Relay Team with Sydney Phillips, Abigail Egbert and Kielley. She also claimed second in the 800m and 400m runs.
Along with the pair of relay wins, Kielley also captured first in the Pole Vault with a season best leap of 8’6”.
Asha Comings and Emma Grange led the Lady Prospectors, competing in five events throughout the meet. Grange won the 300m Hurdles with a personal best time of 52.24 seconds and claimed third in both the 200m and 400m events. Comings won the Long Jump with a distance of 14’9” and took seconds in the High Jump and Triple Jump. Both were part of the Granite relay teams with both took second place and saw them teamed with Haddie Tallon and Amelia Hill.
On the boys side of the competition Drummond claimed third place with 76.33 points while Granite finished sixth at 44.
The Trojans Jonah Parke claimed the only solo win of the day for a county athlete, winning the 100m dash in a personal-best time of 11.85 seconds.
The other local win came from the Drummond 4x100m Relay Team which posted a 47.06 to traverse the circuit. The team consisted of John Langton, Leyton Wagner, Conley Wagner and Parke.
The teams will have their qualifying athletes head to Missoula May 16-17 for the Western C Divisional Meet at Big Sky High School.
