BREAKING: Cutler retires as Philipsburg Superintendent
PHILIPSBURG – After 17 years at the helm of the Philipsburg School District, Mike Cutler is calling it a career.
In an exclusive phone interview with the Flint Creek Courier, Cutler stated he felt it was time to move on.
“I’m retiring from Philipsburg Schools as the superintendent,” said Cutler Tuesday. “I’m going to stay as the football coach. I’ve given everything I can to this district for 17 years and I just don’t have anything more in the tank. I have nothing but positive and great memories of Philipsburg Schools and always will.
“It is just time for me to move on for myself and my family.”
He stated he will stay on until September and assist the school board with the search for his successor.
Cutler served as the Athletic Director the last year for the high school and as has overseen the formation of the Flint Creek Titans athletic coop. He served as co-head coach with Jim Oberweiser from 2014-2016, then taking the lead in 2017 and sharing the position with long-time friend JC Holland. The last two seasons have been the most successful for the program, compiling a 25-0 record and winning back-to-back MHSA 8-man state championships.
