Boys: Prospectors best Trojans for second time, 48-39

PHILIPSBURG – It was a game that was much closer than the final score would indicate and worthy of the cross-county rivalry these two teams share in the sport.

But after playing within a point of each other in the first period, Granite edged away to a 48-39 win over the Trojans.

“We were a little flat tonight,” said GHS Head Coach Dustin Keltner. “Give a ton of credit to a young Drummond team today. We did some good things tonight, but we need to play more consistent.”

Granite held a slim 8-7 lead after the first period, but used a 16-8 run in the second to establish a 24-15 lead that would prove to be the game’s final winning margin.

As is typical of Prospector-Trojan games it was a hard fought contest that saw both teams hustling on every play. Drummond had several opportunities to try and close the gap late, but couldn’t get the ball or the breaks to bounce their way.

Drummond’s top scorer was Ethan Parke with 10 points, followed by Caleb Parke and Wyatt Rigby with eight apiece.

The two teams will part ways until the District Tournament in a few weeks. Granite will host Ennis Friday for its Senior Night before heading out on the road Saturday to play at Clark Fork. The Trojans will host Seeley Swan Friday and then head to Sheridan Saturday afternoon.
