BREAKING: Fatal accident reported west of Philipsburg

GRANITE COUNTY - On October 26, 2019, at approximately 6:13 a.m., the Granite county Sheriff’s office received a report of a man struck by a vehicle opening a gate to access an area to hunt west of Philipsburg. A Virginia man was pronounced dead upon emergency responders arrival.

The Sheriff’s office in conjunction with Montana Highway Patrol are continuing to investigate the matter. Preliminary reports indicate, drugs or alcohol were not factors in the crash.

The name of the deceased will be released after notification of next of kin.
