Bring out the brooms! Granite sweeps Seeley Swan

SEELEY LAKE – Now fully into the second round of District 13 play, the Granite Lady Prospectors hit full stride Thursday as they avenged their only loss of the first round with a 3-0 sweep of the Blackhawks in Seeley.

After battling through the opening set to beat the Blackhawks 25-21, Granite took a 7-0 lead in the second and held that margin for a good portion of the match. The Blackhawks crept back in but could never quite overcome the visitors.

Set three was like the first, this time with Seeley holding several leads before the Lady Prospectors rallied on both offense and defense to stake their claim to the three-game sweep.

It was our game tonight,” said GHS Head Coach Kaley Hansen. “All of the girls were fired up. We knew what we needed to do to and we did it.”

Senior Annabelle Locke, who led the team in defensive digs with 10, added, “This is what happens when we play like the team we are. Every single one of us showed a lot of grit and heart tonight and I’m very proud of us.

“This is what we’ve been working for!”

Reece Pitcher played big at the net all match collecting eight kills and a team-best nine blocks. Asha Comings led in kills with nine. Ella Tallon and Rachel Ward dished on the assists to help their teammates with 11 and 10, respectively.

Granite will take one day off before hosting Darby Saturday.
