Drummond advances to final with semifinal blowout
HAMILTON – Even David Bowie and Queen may not be as well known for pressure as the Lady Trojans.
Drummond applied its signature full-court press against Darby Friday to secure an easy 56-17 victory in the Winner’s Bracket Semifinals of the District 13C Tournament.
The Lady Trojans opened the game much as they do every other – pressing the opposition from the time they inbound the ball. And as normal, the Lady Tigers succumbed to it with a number of turnover that resulted in easy layups and quick baskets. Drummond used that defense to create a 22-6 first quarter that ballooned to 39=8 by halftime.
Lexi Nelson led the Lady Trojans with 17 points, the beneficiary of passes from teammate Kimber Parsons who had XX steals to go with her 11 points. Drummond’s post players – Liz Perry and Remington Cline – finished with 12 points each.
The Lady Trojans advance to the tournament championship Saturday evening at 7:30 p.m. against the winner of the Granite-Seeley Swan game to be played last Friday.
Darby drops into the Consolation Bracket to play the Lincoln Lady Lynx at 10:30 a.m. in the Hamilton Middle School Gymnasium.
