Drummond downs Lincoln, advances to tourney semifinal

DRUMMOND – The visiting Lynx were no match for the Lady Trojans as host Drummond easily swept to an opening round win in the District 13C Volleyball Tournament. The locals won the match 25-12, 25-7, 35-15.

The Lady Trojans will host a semifinal match Thursday against Valley Christian. The Eagles swept Victor in three games in their first round match.

“It was definitely a different feeling, trying to feel like we were in district play,” said DHS Head Coach Brooks Phillips. “We won't complain about getting to play at home and that we are this far into the season. With such a crazy year, I am so happy we get to be ‘at districts’ and getting to play!”

Sydney Phillips led the attack with six kills and a block. Deana Parke and Jessie Struna each had seven service aces, while Struna also added 10 assists. Gracie Weaver led defensively with nine digs.
