Drummond tops Seeley Swan on the road, 3-1
SEELEY LAKE – Drummond battled to hold a lead after three sets before breaking away in the fourth to claim a victory over the Lady Blackhawks, 25-22, 23-25, 25-21, 21-10.
The Lady Trojans (3-0, 2-0) held leads in each set, but couldn’t quite close the deal in the second or it would have been another sweep. But after a few adjustments prior to the fourth set, the locals kicked it into high gear to claim the win.
“The girls again played very well on the road,” said DHS Head Coach Paige Fickler. “They showed great determination!
“Starting the season with three away games, and two big conference match ups has not been easy, and I am proud of the them! All the girls are improving each game and it's exciting to see multiple girls with a collection of kills and digs next to their names on the stat sheet!”
Senior Holly Hauptman went on the offensive to lead a solid attack, hammering 13 kills and collecting all three Lady Trojan blocks. She also led in digs (13) and was tied with teammate Delaney Wagner in aces with three each.
Lexi Nelson was just behind Hauptman at the net with nine kills.
The Lady Trojans will take the next six days off before playing their home opener September 8 against county rival Granite in Drummond. That game will be broadcast on the NFHS Network by the Flint Creek Courier.
