Ennis ends Lady Trojan season at Western Division
MANHATTAN – It was a victory that was seemingly within their grasp, one that could have prolonged their season given the Lady Trojans a chance to make a trip to the state tournament.
But that chance faded as Ennis caught Drummond and eventually posted a 15-13 in the fifth and deciding set of the Consolation Bracket match.
The Lady Trojans jumped out to an 8-4 advantage before a series of miscues evened the set at 9-9. The two teams remained tied to 13-13 before a service error and a Lady Mustang kill collected the win for Ennis.
The Lady Mustangs’ 3-2 victory promoted them into the third place matchup with Twin Bridges while it brought the Lady Trojans’ 2022 campaign to a close.
Ennis claimed set one 25-22, but Drummond rallied to claim sets two and three in convincing fashion, 25-17 and 25-19. But the Lady Mustangs managed to claim set four in a two-point win (25-23) and force the deciding fifth set.
The loss left Drummond in fourth place in the event.
