Granite Boys fall at buzzer; Lady Prospectors keep rolling
VICTOR – The Granite Prospectors came within a hair of snapping their losing streak while the Granite Girls held fast to second place in the District 13 standings.

The Prospector men led for three of the four quarters, but fell just short when the final buzzer sounded.
“We had the last possession and just missed the play we drew out,” said GHS Head Coach Mindy Avila. “We’re getting there.”
Hayden Mason led the locals with 17 points, backed up by Andrew Tallon with nione and Cavan Babbitt with eight.
Granite will get a chance to see if they can get a win Tuesday when they travel to Drummond to renew the county rivalry with the Trojans. In their previous matchup, Drummond’s Caleb Parke scored eight fourth-quarter points to help the Trojans post a 49-43 come-from-behind win over the Prospectors.

It was all Granite all the time in the first period as they staked out a 20-9 lead and never looked back.
The Lady Prospectors’ big three led the way, this time with Reece Pitcher heading the pack at 17 points. Asha Comings was close behind with 15 while Rachel Ward had 11.
The Lady Prospectors will face the Lady Trojans Tuesday for the second game this season, this time in Drummond. In their previous matchup January 14, Ward hit a shot as time expired to lift Granite to a 51-49 victory.
