Granite Boys, Girls fall to West Yellowstone

PHILIPSBURG – The Lady Prospectors struggled to score and fell to visiting West Yellowstone 47-30 Saturday night in Philipsburg.

“Turnovers. Our last two games have been nothing but turnovers,” said GHS Head Coach Cash Laslovich. “We’re so in our heads mentally right now. Our defense has been great, but we just can’t get our offense to get going.”

Granite managed just 16 points through three periods before their offense finally awoke, trailing by 16 points after three periods. The fourth-quarter rally led by Montannah Piar’s 13 points was too little, too late in the end.

Piar finished with a game-high 19 points and was the Lady Prospectors’ only double-figure scorer.

Granite has a make-up game Monday at Two Eagle and the closes out the regular season on the road against Noxon Friday and Manhattan Christian Saturday.

The Wolverines got after it early against Granite, posting a 25-4 first-quarter run that ste the tone for the rest of the game.

Jake Dauenhauer led the Prospectors with 19 points with Logan Fluharty and JJ Lee each adding eight.

Granite is off to play at Two Eagle Monday in a game that was postponed from earlier in the season.

In a game shortened to two periods, the Wolverines outlasted the Prospectors for a seven-point victory.

Asa Lattin had all six points for Granite.
