Granite falls to Powell County in extended fifth set
DEER LODGE – The Lady Prospectors played up a level Tuesday, taking on the Lady Wardens in Deer Lodge. Granite battled the Class B school to a fifth set where Powell County edged out the visitors, 18-16.
The loss does not count against the Lady Prospectors in district play but gives them valuable experience as they dive back into their regular schedule Thursday at Valley Christian.
“We were just off the first two sets,” said GHS Head Coach Kaley Hansen.
The Lady Wardens started fast in those opening sets, earning 25-13 and 25-16 victories. But once Granite got its bearings, they rattled off a decisive 25-7 win and followed it up with a 25-22 win to tie the match 2-2.
Ella Tallon continued to dish the ball to anyone and everyone at the net with 25 assists. Montannah Piar had 11 kills and Addi Lilyquist 10 to lead the attack, with Ramsey Smith chipping in six and a pair of blocks.
