Granite girls cage Tigers to claim third in D13C Tourney
HAMILTON – And now they wait.
The Granite Lady Prospectors captured third place in the District 13C Basketball Tournament Saturday, beating Darby 52-35. The event was held at Hamilton High School.
The Lady Prospectors started slowly, but managed a 10-2 lead at the end of one stanza. The second quarter saw Granite kick it’s offense into a higher gear as they used an 18-11 run to post a 28-13 halftime lead.
Senior Gretchen Hill led the Lady Prospectors with 15 points, 13 rebounds and seven steals. Montannah Piar scored 14 with Rachel Ward adding 11 and Ramsey Smith 10.
Granite must now wait for the outcome of the Drummond-Seeley Swan championship to see if they will get an opportunity to challenge the loser to a game for their spot in the divisional tournament next week. The Lady Prospectors need Seeley Swan to defeat Drummond, as both teams would have a loss and not have played each other in the tournament as yet.
