Granite Girls earn big win in Darby, Boys drop seventh straight
DARBY – Temperatures around Montana have been chilly at night. But Tuesday in Darby, Rachel Ward lit the place on fire.
Ward scored a season-high 28 points in just three quarters of play as she led the Lady Prospectors to an easy 69-35 victory over the Lady Tigers.
Ward scored eight points and along with teammates Reece Pitcher (4), Asha Comings (3) and Montannah Piar (7) combined for a 22-11 first-quarter run that put the game away almost as soon as it started.
Pitcher finished with 12 and Piar 11 to round out the double-figure scoring.
As much fun as the win was, Granite will get a second bite at the Darby Apple when the Tigers come to Philipsburg Friday for a rematch.
