Granite Girls rally to beat Seeley, 47-44

PHILIPSBURG – It was a big win that kept the riches flowing for the Granite Lady Prospectors.

Trailing 40-38 heading into the fourth quarter, the host Lady Prospectors rallied with defense and timely offense to secure their fourth victory in as many D13C outings in 2025.

“Wow! What an amazing game to be a part of,” exclaimed GHS Head Coach Cash Laslovich after the game. “These girls played with so much composure and heart! They won as a team and didn’t let the crowd influence their game. It was an awesome team win! I am so proud of this team!”

The Lady Blackhawks led 14-11 after one period. Unfortunately, that proved to be Granite senior Montannah Piar’s warmup period. Over the eight minutes of the second quarter, Piar poured in 16 of her game-high 32 points, including a trio of three-pointers that gave her four on the night.

And when it came down to crunch time in the fourth, Piar (5 pts.) teamed up with Ramsey Smith (2 pts.) and Kendra Watkins (2 pts.) to secure the win.

Smith finished with eight overall with Allison Benson chipping in three and Ella Dauenhauer two.

The Lady Prospectors will carry a four-game win streak into Drummond next Friday when they take on the Lady Trojans.

The Prospectors staged a furious fourth-quarter run, but couldn’t overcome the lead the Blackhawks had established.

Jake Dauenhauer had 21 points on the night, 12 in the final stanza on four threes from beyond the arc. Eric Pitcher continued to trend in double figures with 18 points.
