Granite girls sweep Lincoln, stay unbeaten in district play

PHILIPSBURG – In a match up of two of the district’s top teams, Granite easily made its way to a 3-0 sweep of the visiting Lady Lynx of Lincoln.

Granite now sits atop the 13C/14C standings at 4-0. Charlo is 3-0 and the two squads face off Friday night in Charlo for what may decide the No. 1 seed in the postseason tournament. First serve in the JV match is slated for 4:30 with the varsity starting at 6 p.m.

The Lady Prospectors raced to easy wins in the first two sets 25-15 and 25-11 before facing the hurdle of Set 3. It’s that third set that, in seasons past, has been an issue for Granite.

But such seems not the case in 2024.

“I think we just stayed on our ‘A’ game the whole time,” said senior setter Ella Tallon. “This game we really stayed on top of it.

When asked about the change, Tallon’s reply was simple. “We really just want it.”

Granite sailed to a set 3 win 25-14 and the match.

Tallon led everyone with 19 assists on the night, with Ramsey Smith *6) and Montannah Piar (9) being her primary targets. Smith added three blocks. Allison Benson was tops in digs (6) and aces (5).
