Granite plays up, falls short to Anaconda
PHILIPSBURG – The Granite Hish School basketball teams started 2024 by playing up a level, but Anaconda proved more than a match as the visitors swept both games.
In girls action, the Lady Copperheads used a 20-6 first-quarter run to set the tone in a 61-31 win.
The Lady Prospectors fought back in the second and fourth stanzas, but it wasn’t enough as the Lady Copperheads had already established a sizeable lead before the final buzzer.
Montannah Piar led the locals with 20 points.
On the boys side Anaconda mirrored their female counterparts, using a 27-6 run in the first period to seize control early.
Martin Puig-Pavon led the locals in his first outing with seven points.
Granite will try and get back in the win column Saturday as they play Powell County on the road in Deer Lodge.
