Granite rallies to best Sheridan at Homecoming

PHILIPSBURG – The Lady Prospectors almost had a disastrous Homecoming 2019, spotting visiting Sheridan the first two games. But Granite rallied to win the last three and the match, 20-25, 23-25, 25-21, 28-26 and 16-14.
“It wasn’t our most efficient game or the best executed,” said GHS Head Coach Jennifer Graham after the win. “We had a lot of errors and sloppy play. I give kudos to the girls for sticking with it and persevering despite the play.”
Granite collected 34 kills on the night, led by Asha Comings with 12. Comings was also tops in blocks with three and aces with four. Holding down the top spot in digs was Shelby Struna (19) and Haddie Tallon dished out 16 assists.
The Lady Prospectors will take the night off and play in the Manhattan Christian Tournament Saturday.
NOTE – The Granite JV and ‘C’ squads will get some additional action Monday as they have scheduled a pair of matches at Drummond High School. The games will start at 4 p.m.
