Granite retires jersey of Carla Beattie-Cunneen

PHILIPSBURG – At Friday night’s basketball games between the Prospector and Valley Christian squads, Granite honored one of their own.

Carla Beatti-Cunneen had her jersey retired after an illustrious career. When she graduated in 1991, Beattie-Cunneen was the schools’s all-time leading scorer for both boys and girls with 2,508 points for her four-year career. She was ranked as the nation’s 9th best recruit by ESPN basketball guru Dick Vitale and was a Coverse All-American.

She advanced to play for the University of Montana and was part of several Big Sky Championships and NCAA Tournaments.

In 2003 she was inducted into the MHSA Hall of Fame.
