Granite’s late lead dissolves as it falls to Seeley Swan

FRENCHTOWN – The Prospectors played well above their regular season station Thursday, leading Seely Swan late into the third period. But as fouls started to mount and time began to wane, the Granite Boys found themselves on the wrong end of a 63-46 score.
The loss drops them into the Consolation Bracket of the District 13C Tournament bracket to play Lincoln Friday at 11:45 a.m. The winner will advance to the Consolation semifinals while the loser will head home.
Granite and Seeley played nearly even over the first eight minutes, with the Blackhawks leading 12-10. But when the Prospector shooters started heating up, the locals went on a 19-15 run in the second stanze that put them up 19-17 at intermission.
Granite built on that lead and extended it to six as late two minutes remaining in the third. But as individual fouls started to rise and the Blackhawks got hot, the dwindled to a single point, 35-34, with 1:49 to go in the period. Seeley eventually took the lead and junior guard Andrew Tallon fouling out with 10 seconds to play in the quarter marked the beginning of the end.
Senior Hayden Mason led the Prospectors with 18 points, with Tallon adding 12 in limited time.
