Granite sweeps West Yellowstone on the road
WEST YELLOWSTONE – Except for a second-set squeaker, the Granite Lady Prospectors made short work of the Lady Wolverines in West Yellowstone Thursday night.
After winning the opener by eight points, Granite trailed West Yellowstone 23-21 later in Set 2. GHS Head Coach Kaley Hansen called a timeout to rally her troops and it worked, with the Lady Prospectors scoring the next four points secure the victory.
The Lady Wolverines appeared spent in the loss, allowing Granite full control in the third set as they won the match.
“We definitely didn’t play as well as Tuesday,” said Hansen, referring to Tuesday’s sweep of Drummond, “but we came out with a win.”
Montannah Piar hammered out 11 kills, two blocks, and four aces for Granite. Addi Lilyquist added six kills and a trio of blocks, while Addison Spehar had five kills, five digs, and an ace. Ella Tallon handed out 25 assists to lead all players in the match.
The Lady Prospectors return home Saturday night for a varsity only match with Alberton at 4 p.m. That will be their final contest of the regular season and will also serve as Senior Night.
