Granite takes two from Lincoln to open District 13C play

LINCOLN – For the second night in a row the Lynx hosted a Granite County team, with the Prospectors earning the sweep to start their regular season schedule.

Granite 71, Lincoln 19

The Lady Prospectors hit the gas pedal early and never let up as they cruised to a 52-point win over the Lady Lynx.

“The girls represented the Prospectors well with a solid defense to start the game and run-n-gunned throughout,” said first-year Head Coach Cash Laslovitch of her Granite girls.

The locals started with a 22-9 first quarter run and followed it with a 25-4 stint in the second.

The Lady Prospectors had four players find their way into double figures, led by senior guard Rachel Ward with 20. Gretchen Hill and Ramsey Smith each added 15 with Lucia lee chipping in 10.

Granite will stay on the road and play again Tuesday at Anaconda.

Prospector Boys

Granite 52, Lincoln 40

The Lynx played the visiting Prospectors tough throughout the first period, but waned in the second as the Prospectors used an 11-8 run to hold a slim27-22 lead at intermission. After the teams traded eight-point tallies in the third, Granite outscored Lincoln 17-10 to pull away for the victory.

“They played well,” said GHS Head Coach Mindy Avilla. “I feel like we controlled the tempo of the game and hopefully that's how the rest of the season goes for us. There are some things that we have to work on, but overall they played well.”

Senior Andrew Tallon led the way with 13 points for the Prospectors, followed by Cayhel White with 12 and Eric Pitcher with 10.
