Lady Prospectors best Drummond, stay atop District 13 standings
DRUMMOND – It was a game both teams needed, but for very different reasons. Granite was looking to stay in the hunt for the district’s top slot, while Drummond was hoping to get a leg up and improve their position.
In the end it was the Lady Prospectors who prevailed in a 42-33 victory Tuesday night in Drummond.
Granite opened the game with a 16-6 run in the first period, led by senior Asha Comings who scored nine of her game-high 21 points. The visitors added to their lead in the second, causing the Lady Trojans to fall behind 27-10 at intermission.
Drummond tried closing the gap in the third, outscoring Granite 11-6 as sophomore Lexi Nelson hit a pair of long three pointers. Ultimately the run proved to fall short as the Lady Prospectors emerged with the win and an 8-1 record as the regular season draws to a close.
Drummond fell to 5-4.
Comings led all scorers for Granite with her 21, followed by teammate Reece Pitcher at 11.
Holly Hauptman led Drummond with 14.
