Lady Prospectors fall to Seeley, head to Consolation Bracket

HAMILTON – The Granite Lady Prospectors could never quite get on track in their 49-31 loss to Seeley Swan Friday night in the semifinals of the District 13C Basketball Tournament in Hamilton.

The defeat sends Granite (15-5) into the Consolation Bracket where they will take on Valley Christian Saturday at 10:30 a.m.. A victory there will allow them to play for the Consolation championship.

The Lady Blackhawks will take on the Drummond Lady Trojans in the tourney championship at 7:30 p.m.

“I don’t know what the heck happened,” said GHS Head Coach Cash Laslovich after the loss. “You can’t win when you go 1-for-21 on three-pointers. ”I feel like we were taking good shots, but they just wouldn’t fall. We got the ball inside to Lucia (lee) and Gretchen (Hill) but they just couldn’t score.”

The shooting drought referenced by Laslovich allowed Seeley to take a 10-0 lead through four minutes of the first period. With 3:50 to play the Lady Prospectors’ Montannah Piar was finally able to get a ball and break the streak. The Lady Blackhawks finished the period up 11-4 and extended it to 27-14 by halftime.

Granite fell behind further in the third before rallying in the fourth to trail by just 10, but that was as close they would ever get.

Piar finished with 10 points for Granite with Ramsey Smith adding nine.
