Lady Prospectors get back on track in sweep of Seeley
PHILIPSBURG – “I’m kinda over it.”
That was Ella Tallon’s remark on Granite’s two game losing streak going into Thursday night’s match against Seeley Swan.
And over it they were.
Tallon and her fellow Lady Prospectors swept the visiting Blackhawks in convincing fashion 25-10, 25-19, 25-22 to advance to 2-1 in District 13C matches.
“Last week was off and I’m not sure what happened,” said GHS Head Coach Kaley Hansen. “I went into the Drummond match not feeling like we were prepared. I just think there was more we could have gotten in (to our practices). And then we went into Twin (Bridges) the next day.
“But we had a really good week of practices and we’ve set some rules for practice that keep us more on track and focused.”
Hansen noted one such rule was to make the best use of their practice time and not be sitting around in between drills.
Granite sprinted out to an early lead in the opening set, scoring seven straight points off the serve of Tallon before Seeley could get on the board.
Sets two and three were closer, but the Lady Prospectors still have full command in collecting the victory.
Tallon dished a game-high 18 assists for Granite, but it was teammate Ramsay Smith who found her groove in racking up eight kills, two blocks, 13 digs and seven service aces.
Montannah Piar led all hitters with 11 kills and Addi Lilyquist tied Smith with eight.
Granite heads west to Missoula Saturday to take on the Lady Eagles at Valley Christian.
