Lady Prospectors ground Lady Blackhawks, now 8-0
SEELEY LAKE – Granite had slow starts but had more than enough to sweep the Lady Blackhawks in Seeley Lake, 3-0.
The Lady Prospectors continue to cruise atop the District 13C standings, improving to 8-0. Seeley falls to 4-3 and into fourth place, a half-game behind Charlo at 4-2.
The Top four teams in the enlarged District 13C will be automatically seeded into the district bracket, with the remaining eight teams competing in play-in games to decide their fate. Win and they’re in the bracket, lose and they go home.
At present, even if the Lady Prospectors were to lose their final three district matches to Two Eagle River, Hot Springs, and Alberton, they would still be in the top four seeds.
“We started each set pretty slow,” said senior hitter Montannah Piar, “but were able to set ourselves apart from our competitors with consistency.”
In Saturday’s victory, Ella Tallon dished 23 assists for Granite with Piar getting 10 of those for kills. Piar also tied with Ramsey Smith and Addi Lilyquist with one block each and led in digs with six. Allison Benson was tops from the service line with four aces.
The Lady Prospectors take the next week off until they play in the Mineral County Tournament Saturday, October 12.
