Lady Prospectors push past Two Eagle, Boys falter in road loss

TWO EAGLE – They may not automatically make the bracket, but the Granite Lady Prospectors have secured at least the home venue for a play-in game to the District 13C Tournament that starts next week.

Their 50-25 victory over the Lady Eagles Monday night leaves them at 6-4 with just one district game to play, that being against the 2-7 Lady Red Devils Friday night in Noxon. Should they finish 7-4, Granite would have an outside chance at the No. 4 seed, but have already clinched the home venue for a play-in game to the district bracket.

The Lady Prospectors will turn around Saturday and head to Manhattan Christian for a tune-up game before the tournament Saturday.

Monday’s contest, which was rescheduled from last week due to black ice and unsafe travel conditions, saw the locals get their offense going early by staging an 18-11 run in the first quarter. They kept up the pressure throughout the remainder of the game.

“(We) got it done tonight and executed our offense,” said a happy GHS Head Coach Cash Laslovich.

Montannah led Granite with 25 points and five steals. Addison Lilyquist scored 11 points and added a game-high 11 rebounds.

The Prospectors rallied in the third, but it fell short as they lost by 18.

Logan Fluharty led Granite with 16 points, with Jake Dauenhauer adding 14 and Eric Pitcher 10.

With the loss the Prospectors fall to 4-6 in D13C play and will have to fight for a home play-in game Friday night when they take on 8-1 Noxon Friday night on the road. Valley Christian is tied with the Prospectors and play at 1-9 Alberton Saturday night. Should the Eagles slip by the locals, the two teams would likely meet in a tournament play-in game in Missoula.
