Lady Prospectors stave off Viking horde, advance to tourney championship

PABLO – The Granite Lady Prospectors punched their ticket to the next level Friday afternoon, beating Charlo 3-2 in the D13C Winner’s Bracket final. They still have to face one more opponent before they can claim the crown they have sought all season long.

With Charlo’s loss, the Lady Vikings fall into a third-place game in the Consolation Bracket and will face the winner of the Drummond-Seeley Swan.

Granite opened the match as they have during all of their district matches this year, winning the first two sets and preparing for a sweep. But the Lady Vikings were having none of that. They rallied to win sets three and four to force the decisive fifth set.

The set was knotted at 11 and then 12 before Granite finally put together a three-point run that secured the set and the match.

Junior Addi Lilyquist stepped up to lead the Lady Prospectors at the net, registering 14 kills, a pair of blocks and five service aces. Montannah Piar had 11 kills, a team-best four blocks, and five aces. Setter Ella Tallon dished 33 assists and had five aces.Ramsey Smith had eight kills, three blocks, seven digs, and three aces.
