Lady Prospectors stay on track; Granite Boys win second straight


MISSOULA – The Granite High School basketball teams made it a clean sweep in Missoula Saturday night, with the girls clinging to second place and the boys winning for the second game in a row.

Girls Varsity Basketball

Granite 58, Valley Christian 30

A big first half led to another victory for the Granite Lady Prospectors Saturday as they defeated Valley Christian 58-30 in Missoula.

Rachel Ward returned to the lineup and posted 23 points, seven rebounds, and five assists with Montannah Piar adding 15 for Granite. Lucia Lee had seven points and collected a team high nine rebounds.

The Prospectors will host Victor Thursday in their second round matchup of District play.

Boys Varsity Basketball

Granite 46, Valley Christian 33

Coming off a hard-fought victory over Lincoln Thursday, the Prospectors stayed on a roll by defeating the Eagles at Valley Christian 46-33 Saturday night.

Granite got out to a lead early, outscoring their hosts 10-2 and 15-3 over the first two quarters. Valley tried rallying in the second half but it was too little too late.

Andrew Tallon led all scorers with 19 points and nine rebounds. Cavan Babbitt added eight points and a team-high 12 boards in his second game back from injury.
