Lady Prospectors stay perfect in D13C heading into postseason
PHILIPSBURG – It was the final match of the 2024 volleyball regular season, pitting teams at different ends of the standings against each other. And it was no surprise when the Granite Lady Prospectors sewed up a perfect district schedule with a 3-0 sweep of the Alberton Lady Panthers.
After the sweep, Granite Head Coach Kaley Hansen looked ahead to the district tournament next week at the Salish Kootenai College in Pablo.
“We talked about that when we played West Yellowstone, because our second set was just complete junk,” said Hansen. “And I told them the first round in the tournament was going to be a team that we should beat easily. We can’t just go in and goof around. It just takes focus.”
The Lady Prospectors go into the event as the No. 1 seed and will face the lowest surviving seeded team after Wednesday’s play-in games.
In Saturday’s tilt, senior Montannah Piar logged a rare double-double by hammering 11 kills and serving up 12 aces. Ella Tallon had 19 assists and Addison Spehar had half her team’s defensive digs with three.
