Lady Prospectors Stay perfect with sweep of Sheridan
PHILIPSBURG – The Granite girls volleyball team kept their district record unblemished Thursday, rolling past Sheridan 25-8, 25-6, 25-11.
The Lady Prospectors controlled the match through two sets, but started to see the tell-tale signs of faltering in the third set that have plagued them in year’s past. But this time it was different.
“I felt like we did a little in the third set,” said senior Montannah Piar of her team’s play Thursday night. “I feel like the difference between this year and last year is this year we felt it coming in the third set. The difference is that we bounced back from it. We started passing better
“We were a little loose and we looked at the score and said, ‘We can’t let this happen.’”
Piar led her team with 10 kills, a pair of assists and two aces. Junior Addi Lilyquist was right behind her with nine kills and two service aces. Setting the table for the two of them, as well as everyone else, was Ella Tallon who finished with 26 assists.
