Lady Prospectors stay undefeated in D13C play with road win at Lincoln
LINCOLN – The Granite Lady Prospectors held on to the top spot in the District 13C standings, beating Lincoln on the road Saturday 53-39.
The Lady Prospectors and Lady Lynx both entered the game at 2-0, but the loss drops Lincoln into a tie with Drummond at 2-1 in second place.
The two squads played even in the opening period, tied 13-13 when the buzzer sounded. But in the second Granite’s Montannah Piar took control, scoring 13 of her team’s 17 points as they went into halftime leading 30-19. The Lady Prospectors extended their lead to 17 in the third quarter, but a 16-13 run by Lincoln in the fourth was too little, too late.
Piar led all scorers with 24 for Granite, including seven steals. Ramsey Smith added 16 points off nine steals. Addi Lilyquist scored four points, but again kept the windows clean with a team-high 10 rebounds.
The Prospector boys lost 71-10 to the Lynx.
Granite will be on the road for all three of its games this week, starting Tuesday at Hot Springs. They follow that up with a contest at Valley Christian in Missoula Thursday before heading to Victor Saturday.
