Lady Prospectors sweep Noxon

PHILIPSBURG – For the third time in as many days, the Granite Lady Prospectors swept an opponent on the volleyball court to cement their dominance of the 13C/14C district.

Granite defeated Noxon 25-7, 25-16, 25-17 to improve to 5-0, while the Lady Devils fell to 1-2.

The Lady Prospectors opened with a blitz and never looked back in the opening set victory, before Noxon started challenging them in the second. But try as they might, the Lady Devils could never quite get over the hump to secure a victory.

“We just need to stay on track and focus,” said GHS senior Ramsey Smith, who finished Saturday’s match with three kills, two blocks and nine digs. “We still have conference games left, so we’ve just got to keep pushing.”

Granite pushed three matches in three days, sweeping two of the top teams in the standings in Lincoln (Thursday) and Charlo (Friday). Over that time Smith has been a veritable wall at the net with 10 blocks. Meanwhile, fellow senior Montannah Piar has been hammering away at opponents, collecting seven kills Saturday to give her 26 over the three-day stint.

Senior setter Ella Tallon has been the major resource for Piar, Smith, and Addi Lilyquist, dishing 19 assists against Noxon and totaling 61 since Thursday.

Granite will play at home again Tuesday when they face Victor for Homecoming.

The Lady Prospectors JV team stopped the visiting Lady Devils to earn the victory.

Eva Comings had a team high six kills to go along with eight aces. Averee Rich led in aces with 13 and Ella Dauenhauer dished seven assists.
