Lady Trojans blast visiting Lady Prospectors by 17

DRUMMOND – The Granite Lady Prospectors had been on a roll. Standing at 4-1 in District 13C play and winners of four straight.

But the 1-2 Drummond Lady Trojans didn’t care.

The blue and white hosts opened the game with an 18-10 first quarter and followed it up with similar runs through three periods to earn a 60-43 win.

“We just never got in sync, none of us,” said Granite senior Montannah Piar.

Piar and her teammates could get on track until the fourth, when she scored 12 of her team-high 17 points.

Fellow senior Ramsey Smith was close behind with 16 points.

Meanwhile, Kimber Parsons was lighting it up for Drummond with a game-high 25 points. Teammate Charlee Cline also contributed 18.

“They played incredible,” said DHS Head Coach Levi Parsons. “I’ve had confidence in the girls all year. We’ve lost a lot of games, and we’ve lost some close ones, but I knew we had it in us to put together a good one. It was a great night to do it. They wanted to beat P-Burg, they always do, and they just clicked.”

Looking ahead, Parsons spoke about what his Lady Trojans need to do over the next three weeks before the district tournament.

“What we need is more than two players being dominant in the scorebook. I would like to get a third player that can get into double figures. That’s been our issue all year is that we’re relying on two players to do all the scoring, and one that is really having to do a lot.”

Both teams head out on the road Saturday, with the Trojans playing at Victor and the Prospectors heading to Lincoln.
