Lady Trojans cap regular season with sweep of Victor
VICTOR – Drummond closed out its regular season volleyball schedule Friday night, beating the Pirates in straight sets at Victor 25-9, 25-16, 29-27.
“Girls did a good job and had fun,” said DHS Head Coach Brooks Phillips of the season-ending win. “The bench got to play and we tried a few new things.”
Despite Phillips rotating in some of her reserve players, the Lady Trojans were able to hold on to win the extended game three.
Sydney Phillips led in kills with nine while Hannah Bradshaw chipping in six and five aces. Deana Parke and Gracie Weaver were tops in service aces with six each and Jesse Struna had a team best 13 assists.
Drummond now awaits the final standings which will serve as the seeding for the reformatted district tournament that will be played next week. This year’s event will be single elimination with the higher seed hosting a match each night through the final. The adjustment was made as per the MHSA’s Covid-19 provisions.
