Down 10 after one quarter, the Drummond Lady Trojans decided to avoid the high road and go low … to the post.

8th Grader Remington Cline and Senior Liz Perry combined for 33 points for Drummond, 29 of which came after the opening eight minutes. Cline finished with a game-high 19 points and six rebounds while Perry scored 14 and was tops in boards with nine. Each girl had two blocked shots.

The Lady Trojans won’t play in the District 13C Tournament until Friday, Feb. 17, as they earned a first-round bye by finishing first in district play. That game will pit them against the survivor of the Darby (4th) vs. Valley Christian (5th) at 3:30 p.m.

The District 13C Tournament takes place in Hamilton Feb. 16-18 and will be broadcast on the NFHS Network.

The Trojans took Class B Powell County to the wire in the fourth, but fell just short of securing a big victory.

“I felt like we really played pretty well tonight, but just come up short,” said DHS Head Coach Levi Parsons. “We ran some decent offense and played pretty well defensively (but) we just couldn't score the ball, especially inside. Unfortunately our team is battling some sickness again, so hopefully we will all be healthy come tournament.”

Colt Parsons led all scorers in the game for Drummond with 21 while Brody Rasor added 11 while dishing six assists.

The Trojans’ second place finish places them in a game with Lincoln (7th) in the opening round of the District 13C Tournament Feb. 16 in Hamilton. Tip-off is set for noon.

A victory would send them into the Winner’s Bracket semifinal against the winner of Seeley Swan (3rd) vs. Victor (6th) on Friday at 5 p.m. A loss would relegate them to the Consolation Bracket at 11 a.m., also on Friday.
