Lady Trojans continue to improve their groove against Sheridan
SHERIDAN – After switching up their offense and trying a few new things last week, the Drummond volleyball team kept the ball rolling with a straight-set win over Sheridan, 25-16, 25-15, 27-25.
“The girls played well together, covered and talked, stayed calm and just kept working,” said DHS Head Coach Brooks Phillips. "We served 83 times and only had eight errors so over a 90 percent success rate”
After taking the first two games in commanding fashion, Drummond had to fend off a tough charge by the host Panthers to secure the sweep.
Junior Hannah Bradshaw led the locals in service aces with six, having provided to long service stretches in games two and three that gave Drummond 18 points and the wins. She was also tops in kills with eight and third in digs with nine.
Deana Parke was tops on defense with 11 digs, followed close by Gracie Weaver with 10. Rylee Hilmo and Parke split the squad’s 15 assists, with the former getting eight and the latter seven.
Sydney Phillips was dominant at the net, collecting 11 blocks.
The Lady Trojans return to Drummond Monday night for their final home match of the season. Hilmo will be honored during the team’s Senior Night as they play Loyola Sacred Heart. They will turn around on Tuesday to play their cross-county rivals, the Lady Prospectors of Granite.
