Lady Trojans go 12-0 in district play
DARBY – A year ago they were the underdog. Now they have a target on their back.
One they placed there themselves.
The Drummond Lady Trojans put an exclamation mark on their 2022 District 13C season Thursday, sweeping the Lady Tigers in Darby 25-10, 25-7, 25-17. The victory leaves them at 12-0 as they head into the tournament next week.
While the swing attempts were spread throughout the Drummond lineup it was junior Delaney Wagner that made the most of them by collecting eight kills to lead the squad. She was also tops on defense with six digs. Liz Perry had a pair of blocks and four service aces and Jesse Struna dished out a game-high 22 assists.
By securing the district’s top spot the Lady Trojans earned a first-round bye in the seven-team District 13C bracket and will face the winner of the Victor-Darby matchup in the Winner’s Bracket semifinals Thursday at 2:45 p.m.. A win there would advance them to a Friday match at 1:15 p.m. against the survivor of the lower portion of the bracket.
