Lady Trojans secure second place with win over Valley Christian

MISSOULA – Drummond moved into sole possession of second place in District 13C play Tuesday, beating the Lady Eagles of Valley Christian in Missoula.

The Lady Trojans easily won the opening set 25-16, but faltered in the second losing 25-11. Valley continued to play well in Set 3, with Drummond righting its ship and getting back to fundamental volleyball. The game was tied when the Lady Trojans finally took the lead for good, holding on for a 25-21 win.

That seemed to be the straw that broke the camel’s back, as Drummond rattled off a 25-13 victory to close out the match.

Junior Kimber Parsons led all attackers in the match with 16 kills, four blocks, and three aces. Remington Cline was also in double figures with 10 kills and a pair of service aces.

Brooke Hicks tied Parsons with three aces for the team lead, while Hazel Sawfer was tops in defensive digs with 16 to go along with seven kills. Anna Kate Sawfer had 33 assists on the night.

The Lady Trojans get one night off before facing 3-2 Noxon Thursday night in Drummond.
