Lady Trojans secure third in District with whitewash of Lima
LIMA – The Drummond Lady Trojans closed out their regular season schedule with a sweep of the Bears in Lima, 25-21, 25-16, 25-19. The victory secures a third place berth into the District 12C tournament.
After winning a close game in the opener by four points, the Lady Trojans cruised to a game 2 win with Rylee Hilmo spending almost all of her time at the service line. The senior setter was at the back line for 15 of her team’s 25 points that included one ace.
Sydney Phillips led Drummond with nine kills and was one of three players (Deana Parke and Holly Hauptman) that each had two service aces. Hannah Bradshaw and Hilmo rounded out the stat with one each.
Parke was the top digger with 12 while Hilmo finished with a team-best 12 assists.
The third place seed for the upcoming tournament in Twin Bridges was important as it will place them into a half of the bracket that will see them face No 2. seeded Ennis. The Granite Lady Prospectors sit atop the rankings in first.
The official bracket is due out Monday by the Montana High School Association.
