Lady Trojans sweep St. Regis on Senior Night

DRUMMOND – The Drummond Lady Trojans celebrated Senior Night with a straight-set victory over visiting St. Regis Thursday night, closing out their regular season home schedule for the 2024 season.

Drummond cruised through the first set to a 25-11 win before the Lady Tigers clawed back in the second. St. Regis led 17-12 midway into the set before the Lady Trojans got down to business, tying the set at 19-19. The two teams played dead even to 25-all before Drummond strung together a pair of points for the win.

“No. Just a series of errors,” said DHS Head Coach Sam Larson of her team’s set two deficit. “They just had to dig themselves out and I’m glad they did.”

After that, Drummond retook full control, winning set three easily, 25-11.

Kimber Parsons continued to lead the attack at the net, logging 11 kills and three blocks for the Lady Trojans. Charlee Cline took over setting duties for the night, dishing 22 assists to go along with seven service aces.

Drummond will close out its schedule at Cascade Saturday as they tune up for the District 13C Tournament at the Salish Kootenai College gymnasium October 31 as the No 2 seed. Tournament play begins with play-in games October 30th, also at SKC.

“It looks like they’re (Cascade) third in their district right now, and they have Belt in their division so I’m hoping they’re pretty good competition,” observed Larson. “They do have a little bit of height, so we should get to work off of blocks and improve our coverage. But it’s just nice to get to play outside our division because otherwise you might not even see them until their playing in the other half of a bracket.”
