Lady Trojans sweep Twin Bridges in Drummond
DRUMMOND – It’s always a big match when the Falcons of Twin Bridges is on the volleyball court, and earning a win from them is never easy. But the Lady Trojans did more than just beat the visitors Saturday night; they swept the Falcons 25-19, 25-16, 25-20.
“The girls played really well tonight,” said DHS Head Coach Brooks Phillips. “They moved well, talked a lot … especially the 1st and 2nd sets.
“The third set we were down much of the set and then came back to win.”
Drummond jumped out to leads in the first two sets to earn the win. In the third, the Lady Trojans fell behind 16-10 before rallying for a five-point victory.
“Hannah’s (Bradshaw) consistent and great serving in that third really helped us take back control of the game,” added Phillips. “Our boys were awesome tonight. They were great supporters and it helped us stay up and have fun!” added Phillips.
“It’s been awesome the last couple of weeks to watch the girls and boys really support each other.”
Bradshaw showed up in four of the five stat categories in the sweep, leading in Aces (6), Kills (5) and Digs (9). Deanna Parke and Sydney Phillips also had solid games. Parke had four aces, eight digs, four assists and a block, while Phillips contributed four kills, four digs and a pair of blocks.
The Lady Trojans will get a week off to catch their breath, work on a few tactics and get ready for Ennis Saturday, September 28 on the road in a 1 p.m. matinee.
